Our Farming
Our dedication to pig farming and animal care is at the forefront of everything we do. Jonathan and Nicola Oxborrow embarked on a journey of passion and tradition, ensuring the well-being and happiness of our pigs. Join us in experiencing the exceptional quality of our carefully nurtured pork.
Our commitment to animal welfare
We rent an area of Alder Carr Farm in Suffolk, where we are committed to ensuring the well-being and welfare of our pigs. We believe that happy and healthy pigs make for the best quality pork. Here's how we prioritise animal welfare:
Spacious and natural environment
Our pigs have large paddocks where they can roam freely. Some of our pigs will remain on the farm, however, we also have access to woodland areas, where our pigs can live 'wild'. In the woodland, the pigs play a crucial role in managing the area by clearing different sections regularly. Whether on the farm or in the woods, they have ample space to move around and enjoy their natural behaviours.
Nurturing mother-pig relationships
We recognize the importance of mother-pig bonding and its impact on the piglets' well-being. We leave our piglets with their mothers for 8 weeks before weaning, ensuring they receive the necessary care, nutrition, and socialization during this crucial period.
High-quality diet and care
Our pigs are fed a balanced diet that includes spare fruit and vegetables from our farm shop. This ensures they receive proper nutrition. Additionally, our pigs enjoy regular belly rubs, which not only provide comfort but also help establish a positive human-animal bond.
Collaborating with local partners
We prioritise minimising food miles to reduce stress on the animals during transportation. For this reason, we work closely with a local abattoir and the esteemed Lavenham Butchers, who share our commitment to quality and animal welfare.
By adhering to these principles, we aim to not only produce exceptional pork but also contribute to the overall well-being of our pigs.
